This study aimed to examine the significance of dynamic capabilities in digital transformation and explored the mediating role of change management in the context of digital projects within Yemen’s telecommunications sector.
The key findings revealed that change management plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between dynamic capabilities and digital transformation initiatives (β = 0.689, p < 0.05, with a confidence interval between 0.634 and 0.741).
Theoretical contributions of this study include demonstrating a positive relationship between an organization’s dynamic capabilities, effective change management techniques, and the successful implementation of digital transformation initiatives. Furthermore, the study enriches the theoretical framework by integrating dynamic capabilities, change management, and digital transformation.
Practically, the findings provide valuable insights for decision-makers in Yemen’s telecommunications sector, aiding them in developing roadmaps for successful digital transformation projects. The results can also assist sector leaders in cultivating and sustaining capabilities to detect and leverage emerging technologies, thereby driving business transformation. Moreover, the proposed change management approach can help leaders overcome resistance to change associated with new processes or business models introduced by modern technologies.
The study recommends that future research should consider distinguishing between the public and private sector organizations as a relevant control variable. It also recommends expanding the study scope to include all digital service providers beyond the telecommunications industry, thereby offering broader insights into the digital transformation landscape.
The PhD dissertation was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The Candidate was recommended to be awarded the degree of PhD in Business Administration.
