Sana’a University and Capital Secretariat Strengthen Partnership to Support Higher Education

Sana’a University hosted a joint meeting today between University Rector Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti and the Mayor of the Capital Secretariat, Dr. Hamoud Mohammed Obad, with the participation of senior officials from both the university and the Capital Secretariat. The meeting aimed to strengthen ongoing collaboration and reinforce strategic partnership in support of higher education.
During the meeting, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti emphasized that the partnership between Sana’a University and the Capital Secretariat is longstanding, spanning several decades. He commended the significant support provided by the Capital Secretariat over the past five years, which included the construction of lecture halls, the furnishing of classrooms and service facilities, and notable enhancements to the university’s central library.
He further highlighted that Sana’a University is an integral part of the Capital Secretariat’s social and institutional fabric and holds equal importance to other vital sectors. He noted that the university’s advancement in facilities, laboratories, and infrastructure is a clear indicator of the success of this partnership and contributes to the Capital City’s academic prestige.
For his part, Dr. Obad affirmed that supporting Sana’a University is a national responsibility. He praised the university as a distinguished academic institution and a vital contributor to the local labor market, noting that its graduates are present across every village and city in Yemen.
The meeting, attended by several university officials, also included discussions on finalizing several joint projects, most notably the paving of the university’s main internal road. Technical studies for the project have been completed, and implementation is expected to begin in the coming days.
Following the meeting, the University Rector accompanied the Mayor of the Capital Secretariat on a visit to the central library, where they inspected recent infrastructure upgrades and the installation of new computer systems—funded directly by the Capital Secretariat. Mr. Muneer Al-Awlaki, Director General of the Library, briefed them on the services provided to students and researchers throughout the academic year.
