Master’s Degree Awarded to Ms. Asma’a Salah Mohammed Al-Kasadi from Faculty of Dentistry

Ms. Asma’a Salah Mohammed Al-Kasadi was awarded a Master’s degree with an average of (Excellent), in the major of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, from Department of Orthodontics, Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Sana’a University, for her MA thesis titled “The Use of Pattern Analysis with Cone-Beam Computed Tomography in Evaluating Bone Density Around Impacted Maxillary Canines.” The viva voce was held and defended on Wednesday, Shawwal 25, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to April 23, 2025.
The viva-voce committee comprised the following members:
- Abdulqader Mohammed Qasem Zubarah (Supervisor),
- Fouad Lotf Ahmed Al-Mutareb (Internal Examiner and Chair), and
- Abdulhaq Hussein Saad Al-Din Al-Hasani (External Examiner).
The MA thesis aimed to evaluate the microarchitecture of the alveolar bone surrounding impacted maxillary canines using cone-beam computed tomography with fractal analysis.
This thesis outcomes demonstrated a statistically significant increase in bone mass index on the impacted side when contrasted with the erupted side. This finding suggests a higher degree of structural complexity and heterogeneity in the osseous tissue surrounding impacted canines.
The MA thesis concluded with several recommendations, including the suggestion to utilize the findings to develop orthodontic treatment strategies while considering individual variations in bone structure.
The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, interested individuals, as well as the candidate’s colleagues and family members.
