University Rector Calls for Advancing Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Issues Improvement Measures

Sana’a University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, chaired a meeting on Saturday at the Office of the Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research. The meeting was attended by Prof. Huda Al-Emad, Assistant Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Research, along with senior staff from the university’s postgraduate and research departments. The session focused on evaluating academic and administrative performance in the field of postgraduate studies and research.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti emphasized the importance of collaborative teamwork, professional integrity, and high-quality performance that reflects the esteemed reputation of Sana’a University—a longstanding academic institution and a pillar of national expertise.
He urged all postgraduate staff to intensify their efforts in serving students and supporting the educational process with dedication and excellence, rooted in both professional and ethical responsibility.
The University Rector also directed the organization of targeted academic workshops aimed at enhancing the performance of postgraduate programs and research activities, with a focus on modernization and digital transformation, including the activation of the postgraduate office’s official website.
During the meeting, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti received a detailed briefing from Prof. Al-Emad and other officials on the current workflow, policies and procedures, the postgraduate operations manual, tuition fee schedules, and thesis writing guidelines.
The session also reviewed progress on the “Saar” academic system and postgraduate records, and established a monthly meeting with the University Rector to monitor and evaluate institutional performance in these areas.
Other key topics included the framework of existing agreements with public universities and hospitals, the academic calendar for postgraduate studies, and the decision to publish it across all official university social media platforms.
The meeting stressed the urgent need to approve results for students of PG diploma and preliminary pre-master’s coursework year across colleges, as well as the timely approval of master’s and doctoral thesis results. A two-month deadline was set for the university council to endorse any thesis results after the defense process.
Furthermore, the delay in transferring admission and application files from the faculties to the postgraduate office was discussed. It was resolved that such files must be submitted within two weeks of the admission application deadline.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti instructed that the suggestions raised by stakeholders be thoroughly reviewed and that the most critical ones be implemented promptly to improve and streamline institutional performance.
The meeting was attended by directors of postgraduate and research departments, as well as staff from the Vice-Rector’s office for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.
