Regular Meeting Held at Faculty of Medicine to Review Action Plan for Achieving International Accreditation

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University hosted a periodic meeting today of its academic accreditation committees, chaired by University Rector Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti. The meeting focused on reviewing the detailed action plan for completing the remaining requirements to obtain international accreditation for the Medicine and Surgery program.
At the opening of the session, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti commended the efforts of the faculty leadership and its academic and administrative staff in striving to meet the standards required for international accreditation in line with the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
He highlighted the critical importance of maintaining strict compliance with international academic standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality medical education that responds to labor market needs and aligns with the rapid advancements in the healthcare and medical fields.
The University Rector further urged all committee heads and members to intensify their efforts and foster a spirit of teamwork to achieve the desired goals and secure accreditation for the Medicine and Surgery program.
The Faculty Dean, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari, welcomed the University Rector and attendees, affirming that commitment to academic accreditation standards is a fundamental pillar for enhancing the quality of education and developing academic programs. He noted that this commitment would positively impact the caliber of graduates and their professional competence.
The meeting addressed several key topics, including assessing academic programs within the faculty, proposing mechanisms to meet accreditation criteria, and adopting appropriate decisions to accelerate progress in this strategic area.
Prof. Saleh Bahaj, the External Coordinator for Academic Accreditation, provided a detailed overview of the steps taken so far to meet the WFME standards. He also expressed appreciation for the ongoing support provided by the university leadership, particularly during this crucial phase, which demands concerted efforts to secure international accreditation.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Huda Al-Imad, Dean of the Academic Development & Quality Assurance Center (ADQAC), Prof. Ahmed Mujahid, the Faculty’s Vice Dean for Quality Affairs, Prof. Anwar Al-Mughalis, Vice Dean for Hospital Affairs, Prof. Arwa Othman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, as well as the heads of accreditation standards committees, department heads, and faculty members.
