Sana’a University Council Approves PhD and MA Degrees for 50 Researchers and Several Academic and Service Projects

Today, Sana’a University Council held its 11th regular meeting for the academic year 1446 AH (2025–2026), chaired by University Rector Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti. The Council discussed a number of academic and developmental matters and issued decisions and recommendations aimed at enhancing the university’s educational and research performance.
At the start of the meeting, the Council Chairperson reviewed the progress of ongoing development and service projects on campus, including paving the main road and university entrances, expanding green spaces and tree planting, renovating student hostels, and extending lighting networks across various faculties and centers.
The Council approved the new organizational structure for the university’s faculties and formed a committee to reconsider the previous decision on health insurance for enrolled students, seeking to ensure fairness and serve student interests.
In line with academic program development, the Council approved updates to the MA programs in Stomatology and Restorative & Aesthetic dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, including revised course specifications and study plans.
The Council also approved renaming the Ph.D. and MA programs in Gender and International Development to Studies in International Development (in both Arabic and English) at the Inclusive Development Research Center.
The council approved revisions to the Chemical Engineering curriculum at the Faculty of Engineering and level enhancement programs for the Mechatronics and Architecture Engineering departments within the same faculty.
Moreover, the Council approved opening Ph.D. programs in Political Science and Business Administration (Academic track) at the Faculty of Commerce and Economics. Besides, the Council formed committees to assess the performance of thesis editing, linguistic review, and seminar committees in order to enhance the quality of thesis evaluation for both MA and PhD programs across faculties and research centers.
To promote scientific research, the Council approved recommendations from the Higher Committee for Scientific Research to award publication bonuses to faculty members whose research was published in internationally peer-reviewed journals indexed under Q1 through Q4 categories.
In a notable academic achievement, the Council ratified the award of PhD and MA degrees to 50 students across various specializations. It also approved graduation lists from the Faculty of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Faculty of Education and Applied Sciences – Arhab, Faculty of Education and Applied Sciences – Al-Jawf, and Faculty of Education – Sana’a.
The Council also addressed several topics related to academic affairs, graduate studies, and student affairs, making the necessary decisions. The meeting began with the review and approval of the minutes from the previous council’s meeting.
