High-Level Meeting at Sana’a University Underscores its Pivotal Role in National Development

Sana’a University, today, hosted a high-level meeting emphasizing its vital role in national development and its standing as the nation’s premier house of expertise. The expanded meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Allamah Mohammed Meftah, and several key government ministers: Engineer Maeen Al-Mahaqri (Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment), Mr. Mohammed Ayash Quhaim (Minister of Transport and Public Works), and Mr. Abdullah Al-Amir (Minister of Oil and Minerals), and the President of Sana’a University, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti.
During the meeting, discussions focused on Sana’a University’s significant contributions to community service and national development. Participants highlighted the importance of leveraging the university’s extensive human capital, including its scientific, research, technical, industrial, economic, legal, administrative, agricultural, and humanities expertise. The aim is to harness these capabilities to devise effective solutions for national development, economic growth, and local production and manufacturing needs.
Moreover, the meeting underscored Sana’a University’s status as the leading and most established university across the country. With dozens of scientific faculties, hundreds of specialized academic departments and programs, and a wide array of quality postgraduate programs (Master’s and PhD), along with numerous research and community service centers, the university covers all facets of science, knowledge, and scientific research. This comprehensive structure positions Sana’a University as the country’s think tank and the primary house of expertise for the government, solidifying its role in community service through a structured and institutionalized framework.
The participants stressed the imperative for all government ministries, institutions, bodies, companies, and agencies to genuinely cooperate and integrate efforts with the university to promote a robust scientific and practical environment conducive to the innovation of Sana’a University’s graduates and staff, thereby equipping state institutions with highly qualified and productive professionals.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the importance of directing all productive, economic, industrial, medical, pharmaceutical, and service institutions within the current government to provide field training opportunities for Sana’a University students and graduates across various scientific disciplines. The discussion emphasized supporting these students and maximizing the utilization of their innovative ideas and scientific, technical, research, and service-oriented graduation projects to boost production, enhance efficiency, and foster genuine integration between scientific research and service centers and the demands of production lines, manufacturing, construction, and comprehensive development.
The meeting was also attended by the Director General of the General Corporation for Roads & Bridges, the Director of Sana’a University’s Engineering Consulting Center, and a number of specialized academic experts in research, consulting, and engineering fields from Sana’a University.
