Sana’a University President Chairs Regular Meeting of Academic Accreditation Committees at the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences

On Tuesday morning, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University held its regular meeting focused on academic accreditation for the Medicine and Surgery Program. The session was chaired by the Rector of the University, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, and attended by the Faculty’s administration, academic officials, and members of the relevant committees.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Rector commended the Faculty’s leadership and its academic and administrative teams for their dedicated efforts toward meeting the requirements for international academic accreditation by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). He reaffirmed the university’s full support for the Faculty’s mission to attain excellence, stressing the need to align with global standards in medical education to ensure high-quality outcomes that meet labor market demands and keep pace with rapid scientific developments.
Welcoming the attendees, Prof. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Shahari, Dean of the Faculty, affirmed the Faculty’s strong commitment to quality assurance and accreditation. He emphasized the continuous improvement of academic programs in accordance with international best practices in medical education, to enhance graduate competency and advance community service.
The meeting addressed a range of topics concerning the accreditation process, including the assessment of current academic programs, a review of progress on meeting accreditation requirements, and a discussion of strategies to accelerate implementation and achieve the set objectives within the defined timeframe, all in pursuit of improving academic and administrative performance at the Faculty.
Prof. Saleh Bahaj, the external coordinator for academic accreditation, delivered a comprehensive presentation showing the key achievements to date. He credited the Faculty’s notable progress to coordinated teamwork and effective collaboration across all working teams and committees, expressing confidence in the Faculty’s ability to meet all required standards and secure accreditation as scheduled.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Abdulhafiz Thawaba, Vice-Rector for Medical Colleges’ Affairs, Prof. Ahmed Mujahed, Vice Dean for Quality Affairs, Prof. Arwa Othman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Prof. Anwar Al-Mughalis, Vice Dean for Hospital and Community Services, as well as the heads of several departments, members of the academic standards committees, and faculty members.
It is worth noting that the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences continues to make consistent progress in its academic accreditation journey, guided by a comprehensive strategic vision aimed at enhancing the quality of medical education and reinforcing the university’s standing on both national and international levels.
