Prime Minister Reviews Progress of Main Road Paving at Sana’a University

Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahawi conducted an inspection visit today to the ongoing paving works along the main road within the Sana’a University campus, which stretches from the Al-Hikmah Al-Yamaniyah Roundabout to the western gate, known as “Al-Quds Roundabout.”
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Muftah, First Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Hasan Al-Sa’adi, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, University Rector, and Mayor of the Capital Secretariat – Sana’a, Dr. Hamoud Obad. During the inspection, Eng. Abdulkareem Al-Houthi, Deputy Mayor for Projects Sector, briefed the Prime Minister and his delegation with details on the scope and progress of the project.
The project is being implemented by the Executive Unit for the Construction, Maintenance, and Development of Roads and Public Spaces in the Capital Secretariat, with shared funding from both Sana’a University and the Capital Secretariat.
According to Eng. Al-Houthi, the first phase of the project involves compaction and repaving of damaged and deteriorated sections of the road, followed by the complete asphalting of the main road, covering a total area of 26,000 square meters. The project aims to enhance the university’s infrastructure and improve traffic flow within the campus.
During the visit, Prime Minister Al-Rahawi commended the quality of the work and highlighted the importance of the project for both the university and the surrounding area. He stressed the value of incorporating environmental elements and developing green spaces across the campus, for their aesthetic, health, and psychological benefits. He also praised the joint efforts of the university and the Capital Secretariat in implementing the project.
For his part, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti reaffirmed the university’s dedication to improving its campus infrastructure. He noted that road paving is part of a broader development strategy that includes expanding green areas, which play a vital role in enhancing the campus environment and supporting services for students and faculty alike.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister’s visit and his interest in the university’s development and appreciated the Capital Secretariat’s support for the university’s infrastructure projects. He also described the collaboration as a reinforcement of partnership and coordination between the government and the university, which serves as Yemen’s pioneering home of expertise, contributing to its broader development and reform efforts.
