Government Affirms Support for Sana’a University; University Stresses Completing the Educational Process with Student Housing

In a move reflecting the official direction towards supporting higher education institutions, Sana’a University today hosted a high-level meeting at the Rector’s Office. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Mohammed Mohammed Meftah, First Deputy Prime Minister, and attended by Mr. Hasan Abdullah Al-Saadi, Minister of Education & Scientific Research, Dr. Mohammed Al-Mawlid, Minister of Youth & Sports, Mr. Samir Mohammed Bajaalah, Minister of Social Affairs & Labor, and Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University.
The meeting, dedicated to discussing the status of student housing at Sana’a University, revealed a growing governmental interest in enhancing the educational environment for students and overcoming the difficulties the university faces in completing the triangle of the educational process. The First Deputy Prime Minister stressed the government’s commitment to providing a suitable educational environment at the university, one that is not limited to classrooms and laboratories but also includes service and residential facilities, considering them essential elements for the success of the educational process.
Allamah Meftah affirmed that providing safe and properly furnished university housing is a necessity, especially for students coming from distant governorates, calling on the relevant authorities to work quickly to maintain and furnish the student hostels at Sana’a University as soon as possible.
For his part, the Minister of Education & Scientific Research indicated that Sana’a University, as the nation’s flagship university, represents an educational and cultural forefront for all of Yemen. He confirmed that improving student housing services will positively reflect on the stability and well-being of students and contribute to their continued academic achievement in a suitable environment.
In turn, the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, presented a clear picture of the reality of student housing, explaining that the university views the rehabilitation of student housing as a priority no less important than developing curricula or improving classrooms, as housing constitutes one of the important elements that contribute to sound university academic achievement.
From his side, the General Director of Projects at the university, Eng. Abdulhakim Shamsan, presented a technical report on the urgent requirements for rehabilitating student hostels. This included the urgent need for addressing the infrastructure, furnishing rooms, and improving water, electricity, and sanitation services, in addition to facilitating housing procedures for students, especially in light of their increasing numbers and diverse places of origin.
The meeting affirmed that Sana’a University is making great efforts to complete the requirements for an integrated university environment and aims to supply the nation with graduates who are qualified scientifically, environmentally, and psychologically, under clear government support that reflects a deep understanding of the importance of investing in human capital through university education.
The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary for the Housing Sector at the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, Mr. Qasim Atif, and the General Director of Student Housing, Mr. Bashir Thawaba
