University President Discusses New Academic Year Arrangements with Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies Officials

Sana’a – Wednesday, June 25, 2025 (corresponding to 29 Dhu Al-Hijjah 1446 Hijri)
A meeting was held at the Faculty of Computer & Information Technology, chaired by Sana’a University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti. The meeting included the vice-deans of faculties for academic and graduate studies affairs, directors of graduate studies, financial directors, and information systems officers from the University’s General Secretariat and faculties. The meeting aimed to discuss the arrangements and preparations for the start of the new academic year 1447 Hijri, which will launch on the second day of the upcoming month of Muharram.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ibrahim Al-Muta’a; the Assistant Vice Rector for Graduate Studies & Scientific Research, Prof. Huda Al-Emad; and the Secretary General of the University, Mr. Eskandar Al-Maqaleh, the University Rector emphasized the importance of early preparation and raising readiness in various academic and administrative aspects to welcome the academic year. He noted that Sana’a University possesses solid strengths, most notably its distinguished academic staff and advanced infrastructure, making it a primary choice for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti explained that the university has managed to overcome many challenges it faced in previous years, particularly concerning graduate programs in scientific and engineering disciplines. These programs are now widely available, with master’s and doctoral theses being defended daily across various academic fields.
He stressed the necessity of streamlining procedures for students without compromising regulations and bylaws, ensuring the provision of responsible and prompt academic services, especially with the availability of effective electronic communication channels such as the university’s official website and its pages on social media platforms.
The University Rector stated, “We are committed to conducting field visits to faculties and academic facilities to assess the situation on the ground, evaluate performance directly, and work on developing precise solutions for any shortcomings.” He affirmed that the field is the most reliable source for diagnosing challenges and achieving continuous improvement.
He also called on those responsible administrators of graduate studies to cooperate fully with students and to seriously address any deficiencies or delays in services, stressing that delays in processing will be subject to accountability, as this is an academic and administrative responsibility that cannot be tolerated.
The University Rector praised the effectiveness of the “SAR” electronic system, which has contributed to facilitating procedures and providing high-quality digital services, particularly in the field of graduate studies. He indicated that the university will continue to harness its capabilities to offer a sophisticated education and competitive academic services.
For his part, Prof. Ibrahim Al-Muta’a stressed the importance of adhering to the study plan and lecture schedules from the beginning of the year and the commitment to maintaining academic discipline to ensure the quality of educational outcomes.
Prof. Huda Al-Emad affirmed the need for full compliance with the terms stated in the admission announcements for graduate programs. She emphasized that applicant files must match the specified regulations and that quality performance must be observed during the coordination and admission phase to help enhance the university’s academic ranking both locally and internationally.
