University President Chairs Key Meeting to Discuss Fulfilling International Accreditation Standards for Faculty of Medicine

As part of Sana’a University’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of higher education, the Rector of the University, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, chaired an important meeting at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The meeting was held to discuss the extent to which the faculty meets the international academic accreditation standards set by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), which are considered one of the most crucial tools for quality assurance and global recognition of medical education programs.
During the meeting, a comprehensive review of the seven standards adopted by the WFME was conducted. The indicators associated with each standard and the progress achieved in fulfilling them were discussed, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to providing high-level medical education and academic outcomes that meet the needs of the local and international job markets.
In his speech at the meeting, the University Rector emphasized the importance of completing the requirements for international academic accreditation, praising the significant efforts made by the faculty’s deanship and academic teams. He also stressed the commitment of the university leadership to providing all forms of technical and administrative support to ensure the completion of this strategic project, which will contribute to enhancing the university’s scientific standing locally, regionally, and internationally.
The Rector pointed out that obtaining international academic accreditation is a pivotal step towards improving medical education outcomes and opening broad prospects for graduates of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences to have their degrees recognized in various countries and to compete in the global job market.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari, welcomed the University Rector, expressing his pride in the remarkable progress achieved in the accreditation process. He affirmed that the Faculty of Medicine at Sana’a University, with its distinguished academic staff, advanced infrastructure, and extensive academic partnerships, is one of the most prominent medical faculties in the Republic of Yemen.
The meeting was attended by the Rector’s Assistant for Medical Faculties Affairs, Dr. Abdulhafid Thawaba; the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, Prof. Adel Al-Ghaili; the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Prof. Arwa Othman; the Vice Dean for Quality Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Mujahid; as well as the National Expert, Prof. Saleh Bahaj, and the heads of the academic standards teams.
The meeting concluded with a set of recommendations that stressed the importance of accelerating the completion of the remaining indicators and developing a clear action plan for their implementation, while continuing collective work and coordination among the various relevant bodies.
This meeting is part of a series of regular evaluation meetings conducted by the university within the framework of its strategic vision aimed at improving the quality of academic programs and achieving global standards in education, scientific research, and community service.
