Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences Approves Executive Plan to Fulfill WFME International Accreditation Standards

Sana’a – Tuesday, 25 Safar 1447 Hijri (corresponding to August 19, 2025)
Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, today chaired a meeting at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, during which the implementation plan to meet the international academic accreditation standards of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) was approved in line with the global quality system.
The meeting discussed the seven standards adopted by the WFME and reviewed the faculty’s plan for their implementation through precise indicators that include curriculum development, strengthening scientific research, and upgrading infrastructure, in addition to adopting a comprehensive maintenance plan for the faculty’s facilities.
During the meeting, the University Rector emphasized that obtaining international academic accreditation represents a qualitative leap for medical education at the university and grants graduates regional and international recognition of their degrees. He praised the significant efforts made by the faculty’s deanship and academic teams in reaching the final stages of this strategic path.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari, expressed his pride in the tangible progress achieved in the accreditation process. He affirmed that the faculty, with its qualified academic staff and advanced infrastructure, is considered one of the most prominent medical faculties in Yemen.
The meeting concluded with a recommendation to complete all maintenance requirements at the faculty and to raise awareness about the academic accreditation standards.
The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Prof. Khalid Al-Khamisi; the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences for Quality Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mujahid; the National Expert, Prof. Saleh Bahaj; and the heads of the academic standards teams.
