University Council Allocates Six Annual Financial Awards for Publication in University Journals and Approves a Package of Academic Resolutions

Sana’a – September 30, 2025 (Rabi’ Al-Thani 8, 1447 Hijri)*
The Council of Sana’a University held its fourth regular meeting for the academic year 1447 Hijri / 2025-2026 today, chaired by the Rector of the University, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, and attended by the university’s vice rectors, their assistants, and faculty deans.
During the meeting, the Council approved the following resolutions:
1. Setting a time limit for tuition fee refunds for students wishing to withdraw: four weeks from the date of enrollment, or two weeks for scholarship recipients, starting from the date of receiving the scholarship.
2. Issuing a written warning to faculty members absent from three lectures; a formal notice for absence from four lectures, and suspension from work for one full semester for absence from six lectures.
3. Allocating six annual competitive financial awards for researchers affiliated with institutions outside Yemen who publish in Sana’a University journals. Two prizes will be awarded per journal: the first prize ($700) for the best research published during the year and the second prize ($500) for the second-best paper. Research will be evaluated based on approved criteria, and the university’s Scientific Research Committee will select the winning papers. The mechanism will be reviewed and updated annually.
The Council also approved the following items during its session:
1. Renewal of contracts for 30 faculty members at the Faculty of Education – Sana’a.
2. Contracts for 13 new faculty members in the following faculties: the Faculty of Petroleum and Natural Resources, the Faculty of Languages, and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
3. Updating and accrediting the Master’s program in Population Studies at the Population Studies and Training Center.
4. Accreditation of the study plans for the Clinical Doctorate (MD) program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
5. Accreditation of the Proficiency Improvement Diploma for the MD program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
6. Accreditation of the plan submitted by the Educational and Psychological Guidance Center for a non-specialist diploma in:
a. Criminal Psychology and Criminal Justice.
b. Organizational Psychology.
7. Accreditation of plans for Proficiency Improvement Diplomas and non-specialist diplomas at the Faculty of Education (Sana’a), the Faculty of Agriculture, and the Center for Population and Strategic Studies.
8. Accreditation of the academic results for 51 students for their PhD, Master’s, and Diploma degrees across various specializations in the university’s faculties and centers.
The Council also ratified the lists of graduates from the following faculties: Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Faculty of Languages, Faculty of Commerce and Economics, Faculty of Mass Communication, Faculty of Education (Sana’a), Faculty of Education (Arhab), and the Computer Center.
Furthermore, the Council discussed several issues related to academic affairs, graduate studies, and student affairs and made the appropriate decisions regarding them.
The Council concluded by reviewing and approving the minutes of its previous meeting.
