Acting Prime Minister Inspects Sana’a University and Affirms Government Support for Higher Education

Sana’a – October 1, 2025 (Rabi’ Al-Thani 9, 1447 Hijri)*
The Acting Prime Minister, Al-Allamah Mohammed Mohammed Miftah, visited Sana’a University today. He was received by the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, along with a number of academics.
During the visit, the Acting Prime Minister reviewed the university’s conditions and the progress of academic and research activities for the 1447 Hijri academic year. He praised the pioneering role of the university in serving society and advancing human development, stressing that the government attaches great importance to higher education as a cornerstone for nation-building and progress. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the university’s leadership in enhancing its academic and national role.
The Acting Prime Minister added that Sana’a University is not merely an educational institution but an integrated scientific edifice that provides educational, research, and community services touching the lives of all segments of society. It achieves this by preparing qualified cadres in all scientific, engineering, medical, and social disciplines who contribute to driving local and national development and providing scientific solutions to economic, health, environmental, and social problems. He emphasized that the university represents a model to be emulated in promoting culture, knowledge, and innovation, and in developing the skills of the youth to enable them to contribute to building the future. He also commended the university’s humanitarian efforts in support of the Palestinian people, stressing that the university’s positions reflect the national and human values it adopts in all its academic and community activities.
Then, the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, affirmed Sana’a University’s commitment to implementing integrated development projects. These include updating academic programs to comply with modern standards, expanding research activities, encouraging innovation among faculty and students, and improving infrastructure, laboratories, and libraries. He affirmed that the university is working on enhancing educational quality and academic excellence while creating a stimulating learning environment that blends academic knowledge with practical skills. With a focus on national values and sustainable development, Sana’a University aims to graduate professionals capable of contributing effectively to building the nation and society.
During the visit, the Acting Prime Minister, accompanied by the University Rector, toured several key facilities on campus. They inspected newly rehabilitated green spaces where hundreds of fruit trees—including apple, pomegranate, lemon, peach, and coffee—were planted, reflecting the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability alongside its educational mission.
At the end of the visit, the Acting Prime Minister praised this initiative, stating that Sana’a University presents a commendable model that combines academic education with a focus on sustainable development. He emphasized that the university’s vision reflects its mission to prepare generations capable of innovation, creativity, and community service at all levels, while upholding humanitarian values and supporting just causes such as the Palestinian cause.
