Master’s Degree Awarded to Ms. Zubaida Al-Mazalim in Radio and Television

Ms. Zubaida Qasem Al-Mazalim was awarded a Master’s degree in Radio and Television with an average of (Excellent) and a grade of (95%) for her thesis titled: The Ethics of Media Coverage of Yemeni Events on News Channels: A Survey Study of Yemeni Elite Attitudes in Light of the Channels’ Social Responsibility and Ethical Duty, which was submitted to the Faculty of Mass Communication – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to:
- Measure the extent to which news channels under study adhere to ethical standards and fulfill their social responsibilities in covering events in Yemen.
- Identify and analyze the attitudes of the Yemeni elite toward the media performance of these channels.
The findings of the study revealed that there is a noticeable disparity in media coverage, showing a predominant focus on conflict and political events while overlooking major humanitarian and national issues.
Based on the findings, the researcher proposed several recommendations, including:
- Promoting media integrity and supporting social stability through responsible journalism grounded in ethical duty.
- Reducing ethical violations observed in the news channels under study.
- Encouraging the Yemeni elite to diversify their sources of information and news.
Following the defense, the Viva-voce committee recommended the printing and exchange of the thesis with relevant institutions.
The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and interested participants, colleagues and the researcher’s family members.
