Sana’a University has concluded the first training program of the 1447 AH academic year, which aimed at building the capacity of the administrators of websites and social media platforms across the university’s faculties, centers, and administrative units. The closing ceremony was attended by the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, along with a number of senior academic and administrative leaders.
During the ceremony, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti underscored the vital role that websites and social media platforms play in higher education institutions, describing them as the university’s primary window to its local community as well as to the wider Arab and international spheres. He noted that university media has become “an integral part of the university’s identity and institutional image” and serves as a key channel through which the quality of academic, research, and administrative performance is reflected.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti added that Sana’a University is working to strengthen its regional and international presence in global university rankings, a goal that, he said, requires “credible and professional media capable of effectively communicating the scientific, academic, and research achievements taking place within the university.”
He stressed the importance of publishing news only after careful review and verification, and of adhering to media ethics, quality standards, and objectivity. He emphasized that the responsibility of the university’s media professionals “goes beyond reporting news to shaping an accurate and positive image of Sana’a University.”
The University Rector also urged the participants to apply the skills they acquired within their respective units and faculties, noting that competencies in news writing, media preparation, graphic design, and photography “form essential tools for building modern and effective university media.”
Mr. Adel Al-Hababi, the University Rector’s Assistant for Media Affairs, explained that the program hosted 42 trainees from various faculties and centers. Over the course of three days, participants received a series of theoretical lectures and practical exercises in news writing, content development, graphic design, and photography.
Mr. Al-Hababi emphasized that training serves as “the most effective way to nurture diverse talents and refine the skills of young staff members, ensuring the achievement of the university’s media objectives and contributing to the service of Yemen as a whole.”
The ceremony was also attended by Mustafa Shari, the University’s Deputy Secretary-General; Dr. Fadl Al-Mahmoudi, Director of the Public Administration Center; and the program’s trainers—Dr. Ali Al-Ammar, Head of the Journalism Department at the Faculty of Media, and Majed Aslan, Head of the Graphics Dept. at the Computer Center.
At the conclusion of the event, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti honored the participants and presented them with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their commitment and efforts throughout the training program.
