Master’s Degree Awarded to Ms. Salma Mohammed Othman

Ms. Salma Mohammed Abdullah Othman was awarded a Master’s Degree for her thesis titled: Assessment of Elementary School Staff’s Level of Knowledge and Attitude regarding Traumatic Dental Injuries in Sana’a City, which was submitted to the Department of Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Monday, January 2, 2026.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to:
Assess the level of knowledge and attitudes among elementary school staff in Sana’a regarding the emergency management of traumatic dental injuries.
Measure the effectiveness of a short educational intervention in improving knowledge and attitudes toward such injuries.
The study yielded a number of key findings summarized as follows:
The pre-intervention level of knowledge was low, particularly regarding appropriate storage media for avulsed teeth and immediate emergency response measures.
Following a 30-minute educational session, knowledge levels improved significantly, along with more positive attitudes and increased confidence in managing dental injuries.
Statistically significant differences were found in favor of female participants in terms of knowledge level.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
Incorporating regular training programs for school staff on the management of dental injuries.
Providing clear first-aid guidelines within school health protocols.
Strengthening collaboration between health and educational authorities to ensure prompt and effective responses to dental emergencies.
The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
