Sana’a University President Receives Acting Minister of Agriculture to Discuss Development of Agricultural Education

The Rector of Sana’a University, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, received Eng. Ammar Al-Kareem, Acting Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, to discuss avenues for advancing agricultural education and strengthening its role in supporting national development and meeting labor market needs.
The meeting, attended by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Seraji, Deputy Minister for the Plant Production Sector, and Mr. Murad Al-Shaif, Deputy Minister for Services and Support, focused on mechanisms for updating the curricula of the Faculty of Agriculture to better align with Yemen’s agricultural and environmental context. Discussions emphasized keeping pace with scientific advancements and preparing qualified graduates capable of supporting the agricultural sector.
The University Rector reaffirmed the University’s commitment to strengthening partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and enhancing joint efforts to develop academic programs, expand practical training, and organize applied field visits for students. He noted that such initiatives would further develop students’ skills and better prepare them for the labor market.
For his part, the Acting Minister stressed the importance of evaluating and modernizing curricula, activating and efficiently operating applied laboratories, and ensuring integration between academic instruction and field practice. He highlighted that these measures would contribute to improving the quality and outcomes of agricultural education.
Following the meeting, the two sides—accompanied by the Deputy Ministers and Dr. Abdulraouf Al-Shawkani, Deputy Minister for the Livestock Sector, as well as Dr. Adel Al-Weshali, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment—toured several college facilities. They reviewed classrooms, laboratories, and technical equipment. They also discussed development needs aimed at enhancing the quality of the educational process and strengthening its connection to practical field realities.
