PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Waheeb Abdullah Mahfouz in Analytical Chemistry

Mr. Waheeb Abdullah Mahfouz bin Furaijan ‎was awarded a PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry for his dissertation titled: An Environmental Chemical Study of Yemeni Sesame Oil Varieties and Biodiesel Production, which was submitted to the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Saturday‎, February 15, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The dissertation aimed to:
 Study the physical and chemical properties of soil and sesame oil, and produce ‎biodiesel from sesame oil.‎
 Examine the physical and chemical properties of the produced biodiesel.‎
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
 The physical and chemical properties of soil, sesame oil, and biodiesel were within ‎internationally accepted standards.‎
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:‎
 Providing sesame seeds at lower prices.‎
 Assessing the environmental impact of sesame farms for biodiesel production.‎
 Conducting cost analysis to evaluate the economic feasibility of producing biodiesel ‎from sesame oil.‎
The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
