PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Waheeb Abdullah Mahfouz in Analytical Chemistry

Mr. Waheeb Abdullah Mahfouz bin Furaijan was awarded a PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry for his dissertation titled: An Environmental Chemical Study of Yemeni Sesame Oil Varieties and Biodiesel Production, which was submitted to the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Saturday, February 15, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The dissertation aimed to:
Study the physical and chemical properties of soil and sesame oil, and produce biodiesel from sesame oil.
Examine the physical and chemical properties of the produced biodiesel.
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
The physical and chemical properties of soil, sesame oil, and biodiesel were within internationally accepted standards.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
Providing sesame seeds at lower prices.
Assessing the environmental impact of sesame farms for biodiesel production.
Conducting cost analysis to evaluate the economic feasibility of producing biodiesel from sesame oil.
The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
