Sana’a University has retained its top position among Yemeni universities in the 2026 SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), further affirming its academic and research leadership among Yemeni universities.
On this occasion, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, commended this accomplishment, noting that the University’s leading national ranking reflects its continuous commitment to high-quality educational practices, strong support for scientific research, and the creation of an academic environment that fosters innovation and creativity.
He added that this achievement reflects the University’s significant efforts to strengthen scientific research and advance the quality of academic performance.
It is worth noting that the SCImago ranking is based on three key indicators: research performance (50%), innovation outputs (30%), and social impact (20%), in addition to 17 sub-indicators measured through the Scopus database. The ranking encompasses more than 230 countries worldwide and provides a comprehensive evaluation of universities and research institutions across various scientific disciplines.
Among more than 80 Yemeni universities, only seven universities were included, with Sana’a University leading the list. This achievement reinforces its standing as a pioneering institution and a model institution for all Yemeni universities at both the national and international levels.
