PhD Degree Awarded to Ms. Faiza Ahmed Hussein Al-Wadaei in Psychotherapy

Ms. Faiza Ahmed Hussein Al-Wadaei was awarded a PhD degree in Clinical Psychology (Psychotherapy) with Distinction and Honors for her dissertation titled: The Effectiveness of Logotherapy in Reducing the Level of Suicidal Ideation among Females Attending Psychological Treatment Centers in the Capital Secretariat, Sana’a, which was submitted to the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Humanities – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Sunday, 27 Sha’ban 1447 Hijri, corresponding to February 15, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The dissertation aimed to:
Examine the effectiveness of logotherapy in reducing suicidal ideation by assessing the level of meaning in life, the level of suicidal thoughts, and the relationship between them among female clients attending psychological treatment centers.
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
The level of meaning in life ranged between moderate and high.
The level of suicidal ideation was low.
A moderate inverse relationship was found between meaning in life and suicidal ideation.
Statistically significant differences were found between pre- and post-measurements in favor of the therapeutic program.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
Developing educational programs that enhance meaning in life.
Increasing governmental support for psychological programs.
Expanding mental health care centers across the governorates.
At the end of the dissertation defense, the PhD Viva-Voce Committee recommended publication and exchange of the dissertation among libraries.
The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
