The first conference on the harms of Qat to the health of individuals and society will be held at Sana’a University next week. It will be organized by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The Rector of Sana’a University, Prof. Al-Qassem Mohammed Abass, indicated that the conference organized by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences will cast light on the negative effects and harms of Qat to the health, economic, social aspects of the country and its development. The conference will also highlight the diseases that Qat causes to individuals. More than 1,000 doctors, medical staff, researchers and other interested persons will participate in the conference.
He noted that the conference will discuss ten scientific research papers on “the Impact of Chewing Qat on the cardiovascular system, digestive system, liver, nervous and psychological system, pregnant women, kidney, reproductive system, surgeries, secretion of hormones in the body, gum, teeth, and diabetes”.
