Sana’a University announced the opening of participation in a scientific conference on the Impacts of Khat on Community Health, to be organized in February 2022.
The University Rector, Prof. Al-Qassim Abass, stated that doctors and academics are invited to participate in the conference by presenting their research and scientific papers during the period from 15th to 20th December, 2021. The deadline for paper submission will be on 20th January 2022.
He pointed out that the conference themes would include “The Effects of Khat on Cardiovascular and Digestive Systems, Liver Functions, Nervous and Psychological Systems, Kidney and Reproductive Systems Diseases, as well as Dental and Periodontal Diseases, Diabetes, and Pharmacological Interventions.”
Prof. Al-Qassim underlined the importance of active participation in the conference so as to educate society about the harmful effects of khat on health, economic and agricultural development.
He also stressed the need to maintain the physical fitness of students, youth and the elderly, pointing out that a number of scientific papers in the conference would shed light on the effects of khat on body organs and other diseases.
