Sana’a University Emphasizes Importance of Sports Activities for World University Rankings
Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abass, Sana’a University Rector, highlighted the significant role of sports activities in the World University Rankings. The University has been actively working to fulfill the necessary requirements for meeting the ranking requirements. Recently, the University has launched a volleyball championship and a football league involving 16 colleges. Prof. Al-Kasem Abass explained that university sports activities help to polish athletic talents and support national teams with skillful athletes.
During the meeting with his excellency the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mohammed Al-Mowallad, the Minister affirmed that Sana’a University serves as the nation’s largest intellectual hub for youth. The Minister underscored the importance of expanding sports activities in universities and broadening cooperation between the Ministry and Sana’a University to encompass cultural, creative, and training programs with a view to fostering intellectual growth, raising awareness, and protecting youth against harmful ideologies.
The meeting, attended by Mr. Adel Al-Hababi, the Rector’s Advisor for Media Affairs, and Mr. Ahmed Al-Towayti, Director of Projects at the Ministry of Youth and Sport, discussed youth and sports activities at the University and the status of the University’s sports facilities, including the gymnasium and the main stadium. These facilities are expected to benefit over 85,000 students, as well as local clubs and national teams.
Discussions in the meeting were focused on ways to strengthen collaboration between Sana’a University and the Ministry of Youth and Sports in both youth and sports sectors.
