Wednesday Rabii-Awal 1st, 1446H, September 4th, 2024, the candidate researcher/ Ali Mohammed Saleh MASOUD obtained the Master degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with an Excellent average, Major: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Faculty of dentistry, Sanaa University, for his Master thesis entitled: Comparison Of The Clinical Efficacy Of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Versus Arthrocentesis For TMDs Among A Sample Of Yemeni Adults. The discussing committee was formed of: Professor Dr. Akram Thabet Mohsen NASHER, Principle Supervisor and Committee Member, Professor Dr. Sam Abdel-Karim DAER, Internal Examiner and Head of Committee, and Associate Professor Nashwan Hamid AL-TAIRY, External Examiner and Committee Member. The dissertation aims at determining and evaluating the clinical effects of PRP in comparison to TMJ arthrocentesis for the management of TMDs.
The study comes out with some results, of which: the PRP helps in TMDs symptom management and there is no difference between anthrocentesis and intra-articular PRP injection.
The researcher presents a number of recommendations at the end of this dissertation, of which:
– The need for particular studies on a larger number of cases with a longer period of follow-up.
– There should be a unified method for diagnosing TMDs in all studies.
– There should be a unified protocol for preparing the PRP.
Attendees of the session were a number of academics, researchers, interested students of the major, the researcher’s colleagues and some of family members.
