Public PhD Viva-Voce Examination of Mr. Mohammad Jamal Mohammad Al-Saqqaf, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University
Mr. Mohammad Jamal Mohammad Al-Saqqaf has successfully obtained his PhD degree from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Sana’a University, majoring in Comparative Jurisprudence. His dissertation, titled “,Al-Ma’wahib Al-Sanniyyah: Explanation of Al-Muqaddimah Al-Hadramiyyah Book By Sheikh Saeed bin Muhammad Baeshen، (Died in 1270 Hijri) from the Beginning of the Book Chapter of Prayer to the end Conditions of Prayer: A Study and Verification” was presented on Thursday, 4/14/1446 Hijri, corresponding to October 17, 2024.
The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
1. Prof. Abdu Mohammad Ali Sahloul, External Examiner, Hajjah University, Chair
2. Prof. Mutawa Mohammed Abdo Shabla, Sana’a University, Member.
3. Prof. Kawthar Hammoud Mlhammad Al-Mikhlafi, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Member
The primary objective of the thesis was to illuminate the significant scholarly contributions of Hadrami jurists during the thirteenth century Hijri, a period contemporaneous with the author’s life. The research yielded several key findings, notably that the book “Al-Mawaheb Al-Sunniyah” serves as a crucial reference for individuals seeking to understand the jurisprudential rulings within the Shafi’i school of thought.
In his dissertation, the researcher proposed several recommendations, including:
1. Continuing the investigation of this manuscript by compiling the efforts of previous researchers and publishing it in a polished format that adheres to a unified scientific methodology.
2. Prioritizing the publication of the remaining works by the author, which require scholarly attention and presentation to effectively reach their intended audience.
3. Facilitating access for students of knowledge to this rich heritage by collaborating with manuscript owners and institutional officials to promote its significance.
