Obtained the Master degree with an Excellent average in the major of Clinical Orthodontics from the Department of Orthodontics, Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry and Oral Surgery, Sanaa University,
For her Master’s thesis entitled:
Association Between Maxillary Impacted Canine and Vertical and Sagittal Skeletal Patterns in a Group of Yemeni Adults
The examining committee consisted of:
- Associate Professor Dr. Ameen Abdallah AL-AKWAA, Principle Supervisor
Committee Member,
- Professor Dr. Ghamdan Abdallah AL-HARAZI, Internal Examiner
Head of Committee, and
- Associate Professor Dr. Abdul-Haq Husain AL-HASANI, External Examiner
Committee Member.
The study aims at investigating the association between maxillary impacted canine and sagittal and vertical skeletal patterns in a group of Yemeni adults.
The study comes out with some results as follows: A prognathic maxilla and hyper-divergent skeletal patterns are less frequently associated to maxillary impacted canine. The maxilla and mandible exhibit greater retrusion in bilateral cases compared to unilateral maxillary impacted canine. Although certain trends in skeletal patterns are seen, such patterns are not directly associated to the maxillary impacted canines; that is why the study finds the lack predictive reliability.
The researcher presents a number of recommendations at the end of this Master’s thesis, of which: Using the 3D-cephalometric rays might be helpful for good maxillary impacted canine analysis. Further studies are advised for more Yemeni groups to obtain authentic results.
Attendees of the viva session were a number of academics, researchers, students of the major, the researcher’s colleagues and some of family members.
