Public PhD Viva-Voce Examination of Mr. Abdullah Hussein Ali Hussein Jawla, from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University

Mr.Abdullah Hussein Ali Hussein Jawla has successfully awarded the PhD Degree from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts & Humanities at Sana’a University, majoring in “Personality Psychology.” His dissertation is titled “Personality Traits and Their Relationship to Risk-Taking Behavior and Self-Concept among Yemeni Police Officers: A Field Study in the Capital Secretariat (Sana’a),” ans took place on Thursday, Sha’ban 14, 1446 Hijri, which corresponds to February 13, 2025.
The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
1. Prof. Ali Saeed Al-Tariq, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Chair.
2. Prof. Iman Saleh Ahmed Al-Sanbani, Main Supervisor, Sana’a University, Member.
3. Prof. Dr. Abdullatif Abdulqawi Al-Asali, External Examiner, Police Academy, Member.
The primary objective of the dissertation was to explore the interrelations among personality traits, risk-taking behavior, and self-concept specifically within the context of Yemeni police officers.
The findings of the dissertation revealed several significant outcomes, including a notable correlation between personality traits and risk-taking behaviors among police officers, as well as a statistically significant relationship between personality traits and self-concept in this demographic.
In his dissertation, the researcher also put forth several recommendations, one of which emphasized the urgent need for the approval of the draft law aimed at protecting members of the armed forces and security personnel. This draft law was initially endorsed by the Council of Ministers on January 29, 2013, yet it remains pending in the legislative process within the House of Representatives.
The Viva-Voce was attended by several academics, researchers, students, and several colleagues and family members of the researcher.
