Sana’a University’s Faculty of Science Honors One of its Distinguished Scientists, Prof. Yahya Bazara’a

Under the patronage of Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abbas, the University Rector, a ceremony was held today, Tuesday, at the Faculty of Science at Sana’a University to honor Prof. Yahya Abboud Bazara’a, a professor of Ecology and Entomology in the Department of Biological Sciences, and one of its most senior faculty members. He is considered one of the founders of the department and the specialization. During the ceremony, Dr. Mohammed Saleh Qusaila, the Faculty Dean, presented Prof. Bazaraa a certificate of appreciation and a shield of loyalty in recognition of his outstanding contributions and dedication throughout his educational and research career, spanning 40 years.
The Dean praised Prof. Bazara’a’s role and efforts, wished him good health and well-being, and thanked the university leadership, represented by Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abbas, the University Rector, who is the primary supporter of events made to honor university faculty members, especially senior ones.
In his speech on the occasion, Prof. Bazara’a said, in a voice carrying the tone of the past, “You have warmed my heart and brought me back to life.” He expressed his gratitude to the university presidency, the faculty deanship, the Department of Biological Sciences, and attendants for this beautiful gesture. He praised the support and cooperation he received from the university leadership, the faculty deanship, his colleagues, and students who shared his scientific journey over 40 years, starting in 1972.
It is worth noting that this tribute comes as recognition from Sana’a university, the first university of Yemen, for the role played by Prof. Bazara’a and his fellow founders and the first generation in establishing departments and faculties and for their participation in spreading science and knowledge among Yemeni youth.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice Deans of the Faculty, heads of departments, a group of professors and colleagues, department directors, administrative staff, and some of the faculty’s students who had heard of Prof. Bazaraa and met him for the first time today. They offered their greetings and appreciation to him on this occasion.
