University Rector Meets with Team Preparing for International Accreditation of Medicine and Surgery Program

In a significant step toward achieving international academic accreditation for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abbas, the University Rector, affirmed that all possible efforts would be made to complete all the requirements for obtaining international academic accreditation for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery program at the University. This came during his meeting with the Chairperson, members of the Steering Committee, and the heads and members of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) accreditation standards, who are tasked with preparing and reviewing all required documents for obtaining international accreditation for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery program. He stated that achieving this milestone would be a significant achievement for the university and would pave the way for other programs to seek international recognition.
The University Rector also urged the team to make the most of the international expert’s guidance in the preparation of the self-study for international accreditation standards and work collaboratively to achieve the desired outcome.
Prof. Saleh Bahaj, the national expert and chairperson of the Steering Committee, described the endeavor as a significant national undertaking that would benefit the students of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in particular and the country as a whole. He praised the dedication and expertise of the committee chairs, members, and assistants, expressing confidence in their ability to complete the task on schedule.
Prof. Huda Al-Emad, Dean of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center (ADQAC) the importance of regular team meetings and daily progress reports to address any challenges promptly.
During the meeting, the University Rector listened attentively to feedback from attendees regarding the accreditation process and reiterated his full support for their efforts.
It is worth mentioning that the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery program is being evaluated against seven WFME accreditation standards: Mission and Governance; Program Design; Teaching, Learning, and Assessment; Students and Graduates; Faculty and Staff; Resources and Learning Facilities; and Quality Assurance and Program Evaluation.
