The Public Viva-Voce Examination for the MSc Dissertation entitled, “Physico-Chemical Studies on Moringa Species Planted in Hadramout Governorate for Biodiesel Production”, submitted by Mr. Hani Mahfouz Mubarak , Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, was held on Saturday 22/02/1446 Hijri corresponding to 23/08/2024. The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
# | Committee Members | Designation | University | Position |
1 | Ass. Prof. Fathi Mohamةed Abdullah Al-Azzab | Internal examiner | Sana’a University | Chair |
2 | Ass. Prof. Maher Ali Ahmed Al-Maqtari | Main supervisor | Sana’a University | Member |
3 | Assoc. Prof. Mohamed Mansour Saleh Saif | External Examiner | Ibb University | Member |
The study aimed to extract oil from two types of Moringa plants and produce biodiesel from this oil.
The study reached a number of results, most importantly, including the successful production of biodiesel meeting American and British international standards..
The study came out with a number of recommendations, including :
- Developing efficient oil extraction methods for Yemeni Moringa using modern, accessible techniques to enhance the overall capacity of the Republic of Yemen.
- Producing Moringa oil in Yemen: However, further research is needed to improve oil extraction processes and biodiesel conversion, as well as to establish a commercially viable production system, due to the observed low phenolic content.
The dissertation was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. Then, the Candidate was recommended to be awarded the degree of Doctor of Science majoring in Physical Chemistry with an overall grade of Excellent.
