A Master’s Degree Awarded to Researcher Baker Ali Mahdi from the Department of Information Technology at the College of Computer

Researcher Baker Ali Ali Mahdi Al-Zenni earned his Master’s degree with distinction from the Department of Information Technology, specializing in Networks, at the College of Computer and Information Technology, Sana’a University. His thesis, titled “A Theoretical Framework for Enhancing Higher Education Institutions Operations in Yemen Through Adoption of Fog Computing,” was successfully defended on Sunday, 2 Ramadan 1446 AH (corresponding to March 2, 2025).
The examination and evaluation committee consisted of:
•Associate Professor Dr. Nabil Taher Al-Suhaibi – Internal Examiner and Chair of the Committee
•Professor Dr. Fouad Hasan Abdulrazaq – External Examiner and Committee Member

The study aimed to construct a theoretical framework to enhance the operations of higher education institutions by adopting fog computing and to identify the factors influencing its adoption, both generally and within Yemen.
Among the study’s findings was the development of a framework to test the factors affecting the adoption of fog computing in higher education institutions, using a hybrid approach that combines statistical methods and neural networks (SEM-ANN).
In his thesis, the researcher made several recommendations, including formulating a strategy for employing fog computing in Yemeni higher education institutions and increasing awareness of this emerging technology through training courses, publications, seminars, and scientific conferences. The research further emphasizes collaboration between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology, as well as expanding internet coverage and activating 4G and 5G services across all regions of Yemen.
A number of academics, researchers, interested attendees, the researcher’s colleagues, and family members were present at the defense.
