Leadership Transition Ceremony between the Former and New Rectors of Sana’a University
Today, a formal handover ceremony took place in the capital, Sana’a, between the former rector of Sana’a University, Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abbas, and the new-appointed rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti.
During the handover ceremony, attended by leaders from the university and the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti commended the efforts made by his predecessor during challenging circumstances. He acknowledged the substantial advancements achieved in the university’s infrastructure and overall development under Professor Abbas’s leadership, emphasizing the role of Sana’a University as the leading institution in Yemen, with its impact evident through its distinguished outputs. Al-Bukhaiti stated that he would continue along the same path, prioritizing infrastructure development, particularly in laboratories, workshops, and facilities, to ensure that students graduate with excellent quality. Furthermore, he commended the dedication of the university’s academic and administrative staff and reiterated the ongoing efforts to enhance educational performance amidst the current challenges facing the country.
In response, the former rector of the university, Prof. Al-Kasem Abbas, expressed his gratitude to the university’s faculty, staff, and students for their resilience and commitment over the past years despite difficult circumstances. He extended his best wishes to the new rector for success in his new role, highlighting the achievements made across various faculties and centers within the university. Prof. Abbas underscored the importance of collective cooperation with the new leadership for the betterment of the nation and praised prof. Al-Bukhaiti’s extensive experience in both academic and administrative domains. He assured that all members of the university community would support him in elevating the institution to the levels it deserves both locally and internationally.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti honored Prof. Al-Kasem Abbas with a commemorative shield from all university members in recognition of his dedicated efforts in serving the university, along with a shield from the University Student Forum.
