Minister of Education & Scientific Research: Sana’a University is a Leading National Model that Should be Supported

His Excellency, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hasan Abdullah Al-Sa’adi, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting Sana’a University in preserving its pioneering role and esteemed position at the top of Yemeni universities.
His statement came during a meeting with the Sana’a University Council, where he commended the university’s leadership and its academic and administrative staff for their dedication amid current challenges. He remarked that “working in the pursuit of knowledge and education, particularly during such critical times, is among the most virtuous acts in the eyes of Allah.”
Minister Al-Sa’adi described Sana’a University as a premier academic institution in Yemen and expressed his aspiration for the university to lead in academic program quality, administrative efficiency, performance transparency, community service, and positive interaction with its students. He emphasized the importance of upholding scientific and ethical values, stressing that educators must exemplify moral conduct, discipline, and professionalism.
He also praised the accomplishments of the former university administration, led by Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abbas, highlighting its success in navigating significant challenges in recent years. Acknowledging that change is the way of the world, the Minister voiced his confidence in the capabilities of the current Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, and his team to continue advancing the university’s development and progress.
The Minister underscored the importance of addressing the needs of both students and the country equally, respecting regulations while also considering humanitarian concerns. He reaffirmed his full support for the university’s current leadership in overcoming challenges and strengthening Sana’a University’s role as a leading academic and national institution.
In his part, the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, the Minister, for his visit and trust. He stated that the university is implementing a comprehensive plan aimed at overcoming current challenges and enhancing academic and administrative performance.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti noted that the university has reactivated departmental councils and introduced new mechanisms to ensure financial transparency, including a structured half-salary disbursement system, calling upon all staff to understand the current situation and engage constructively with the prevailing conditions.
He emphasized that the university’s priorities include disbursing teaching hours wages, providing operational funds for faculties and centers, and ensuring monthly transportation allowances for academic and administrative staff. Plans are also underway to improve infrastructure for laboratories, workshops, and training facilities.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti further announced the formation of a committee to evaluate the academic, administrative, and financial performance of the university’s 25 affiliated research and community service centers, ensuring that resource management will be managed transparently and responsibly.
He stressed the need to leverage scientific research to improve the university’s standing in international rankings, in which Sana’a University has already made significant strides in recent years. In conclusion, he stressed the importance of teamwork and collective effort, noting that cooperation across all university sectors is essential to achieving meaningful progress and success.
