Sana’a – June 4, 2025 (8 Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH)
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the role of the Faculty of Mass Communication in supporting education and national media discourse, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Sana’a University President, paid an inspection visit to the faculty to assess operational progress and review its technical and logistical needs ahead of the upcoming academic year. He was welcomed upon his arrival by Dr. Omar Ahmed Daer, Dean of the Faculty, along with vice deans, heads of academic departments, and faculty members.
During the visit, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti toured the university radio station located within the faculty, which serves as a key training platform for students, directly enhancing their broadcasting skills and preparing them for careers in media. He also visited the faculty’s television studio, where he was briefed by staff on the practical training offered to students in the Radio and Television Department and the hands-on projects being implemented as part of their media qualification programs.
Following the tour, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti held a broad meeting with the faculty leadership. The meeting was attended by Prof. Huda Al-Emad, Assistant Vice-President for Postgraduate Studies, along with faculty members. The visit coincided with the conclusion of a workshop on the development of PhD programs in the departments of Radio and Television, Journalism and Digital Publishing, and Public Relations.
In his remarks, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork to achieve shared objectives. He described the Faculty of Mass Communication as one of the university’s most established colleges and a vital source of professional national media talent.
“We aspire for the faculty’s graduates to exemplify excellence—committed to truth, national identity, and ethical professionalism—capable of representing the fourth estate in a manner befitting Sana’a University’s and Yemen’s legacy,” he stated.
He also praised the resilience of Yemeni media professionals, particularly graduates of the faculty, in countering disinformation campaigns and defending national causes in recent years.
For his part, Dr. Omar Daer welcomed the University President and accompanying delegation, expressing gratitude for the administration’s continuous support. He outlined key activities carried out by the faculty over the past academic year, including progress in finalizing academic program specifications and integrating graduation projects into the production of promotional films and informational media about the university’s faculties and centers—efforts that contribute to strengthening Sana’a University’s digital and media identity.
During the meeting, several faculty members presented observations and suggestions related to infrastructure development, curriculum updates, and enhancing hands-on training opportunities for students. Prof. Al-Bukhaiti instructed the immediate review and action on these inputs to ensure the necessary requirements are met before the new academic year.
The visit was attended by Mr. Adel Al-Hababi, the University President’s Assistant for Media Affairs; Dr. Khaled Al-Khamisi, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences; and Mr. Osama Al-Bukhaiti, Director of the University President’s Office, along with a number of administrative staff.
