Al-Sa’adi Reviews Competitive Entrance Exams for Free Scholarship Seats for Academic Year 1447 AH
Sana’a – Wednesday, June 18, 2025 (22 Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH)
Today, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hasan Al-Sa’adi, conducted an inspection visit to the Electronic Testing Center (ETC) at Sana’a University to monitor the progress of the competitive entrance exams for free university seats offered for the 1447 AH academic year in Yemeni universities. A total of 8,410 students, including 2,685 female applicants, have competed for the scholarships.
Accompanied by Prof. Ibrahim Luqman, Deputy Minister for the Higher Education Sector and a member of the Supervisory Committee; Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University; and Supervisory Committee member Hasan Ezz Al-Din, the minister observed the proficiency exams for students competing in engineering, computing, business, and humanities, which have attracted 3,138 candidates, including 608 females.
The group received a briefing from Yahya Abdulqadir, Head of the Technical Committee; Omar Al-Ansi, committee member; and staff from ETC. They were briefed on the measures taken by the committee and ETC to streamline the testing process, including the distribution of students across four daily exam sessions, starting at 8:30 a.m. and continuing until 3:00 p.m.
It was announced that Thursday would be reserved for students who were delayed in registration or payment, including those traveling from other governorates. These students, who have registered through the Ministry’s electronic portal but were unable to complete payment procedures, will now have the opportunity to take the exam. The total number of students expected to take the test on Thursday is 20,095 students.
The Minister praised the organizing efforts of the supervisory and technical committees in preparing the exams, which aim to fill 4,000 free university seats in medical, engineering, computing, administrative, and humanities across both public and private universities.
He also appreciated the capabilities of the ETC at Sana’a University, noting its recent upgrades. The center now houses 1,500 computers and can accommodate over 1,000 students per exam session.
For his part, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Sana’a University Rector, emphasized that both the examination and results process are fully automated. Students receive their results immediately after completing the test, ensuring transparency, integrity, and the elimination of human bias.
