University Rector Chairs Regular Meeting of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Council

The regular June meeting of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Council was held today at Sana’a University, chaired by the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti. The meeting was attended by Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Shahari; Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Arwa Othman; Deputy Dean for Graduate Studies, Dr. Adel Al-Ghaili; Deputy Dean for Hospital and Community Services, Prof. Anwar Mughallis; and Deputy Dean for Quality Assurance, Prof. Ahmed Al-Mujahed. Director of Kuwait University Hospital, Prof. Abdul Latif Abu Talib, as well as the heads of all basic and clinical departments within the Faculty’s programs were also present.
At the beginning of the meeting, the University Rector expressed his deep appreciation for the significant efforts exerted by the Faculty’s administration and its academic and administrative staff in delivering distinguished medical education. He commended their dedication and performance with the commencement of the 2025–2026 academic year.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting the Faculty in its pursuit of excellence and encouraged the adoption of the highest standards of quality in medical education. He emphasized the importance of adhering to international standards to ensure the quality of educational outcomes and their alignment with labor market needs and the rapid pace of scientific advancement.
The meeting addressed several key issues, including quality assurance, academic accreditation, graduate studies, academic affairs, and student affairs. It also examined the current challenges facing the educational process within the Faculty and explored proposed solutions to effectively overcome such challenges.
In addition, the Council discussed preparations for the upcoming 2025–2026 academic year and the necessary measures to ensure its successful launch. Particular attention was given to strengthening scholarly research within the Faculty through the adoption of research plans for both master’s and doctoral programs across various disciplines.
The Council emphasized the need to provide adequate support to researchers and students to enhance the quality of research and ensure it yields tangible outcomes. The meeting also reviewed progress in the academic accreditation process, including program evaluations, completed milestones, and mechanisms for accelerating efforts to achieve the desired objectives within the established timelines.
At the end of the meeting, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari, stressed the importance of adherence to regulatory guidelines and the enhancement of coordination among departments to foster a stimulating educational environment. Such efforts, he noted, are essential for student success and for realizing the Faculty’s vision of delivering high-quality medical education in line with international accreditation standards.
The Council also reviewed and approved the minutes of its previous session.
