Sana’a University Rector Chairs Academic Accreditation Committee Meeting on International Accreditation for Medicine and Surgery Program

Sana’a University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, chaired today the regular meeting of the Higher Steering Committee and the Academic Accreditation Committees at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The meeting was part of the Faculty’s ongoing efforts to fulfill the requirements for international academic accreditation of its Medicine and Surgery Program by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by Vice-Rector for Medical Faculties Affairs, Dr. Abdulhafiz Thawaba, and Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Huda Al-Emad, the University Rector commended the tireless efforts of the Faculty’s deanship and its academic and administrative staff in their pursuit of improving the quality of medical education. He emphasized the importance of adhering to international standards to ensure learning outcomes that meet both labor market demands and current scientific advancements.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Prof. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Shahari, welcomed the University Rector, members of the Higher Steering Committee, and the heads of academic subcommittees. He reaffirmed the Faculty’s commitment to implementing quality standards and continuously updating academic programs in line with global best practices in medical education.
The meeting involved discussions on key aspects of the accreditation process, including a review of international academic standards for the Medicine and Surgery Program and mechanisms for improving the Faculty’s educational system in accordance with the requirements of the international accreditation body. The participants also underscored the need to finalize the remaining performance indicators related to the approved standards.
Deputy Dean for Quality Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mujahid, presented an overview of the progress made by the specialized committees, including documentation preparation, performance indicator analysis, and self-evaluation reports.
Furthermore, the National Coordinator for Academic Accreditation at the Faculty, Prof. Saleh Bahaj, provided his observations and recommendations regarding the ongoing work. Attendees also discussed strategies for improving performance and reinforcing adherence to quality standards to ensure successful attainment of international academic accreditation.
The meeting was attended by a number of Faculty members and members of the Academic Accreditation Committees at the Faculty.
