Sana’a University Translates Outcomes of Meetings with Deputy Prime Minister into Concrete Action

As part of implementing the outcomes of the recent high-level meeting hosted at the University of Sana’a—chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Allamah Mohammed Mohammed Meftah and attended by several ministers from the Government of Change and Development—Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, today chaired a meeting of the committee tasked with preparing a comprehensive guide on the university’s role in serving society. The meeting was attended by a number of university leaders and committee members.
Among the participants were Prof. Ibrahim Al-Mutaa, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Prof. Zaid Ali Al-Warith, Rector’s Assistant for Scientific & Research Centers; Dr. Fuad Al-Mahtwari, Chairman of the Committee; Dr. Omar Daer, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication; along with committee members representing various university units.
At the outset of the meeting, the University Rector emphasized that this effort comes as a direct response to the directives issued during the government meeting held at the university, which underscored the need to activate the role of higher education institutions in community service and comprehensive development. He noted that Sana’a University possesses the expertise, qualified personnel, and infrastructure that enable it to play a pioneering role at the national level.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti explained that the guide currently being developed by the committee would serve as a scholarly and institutional reference documenting the university’s services in the areas of consultancy, training, education, and scientific research. It would also contribute to developing economic, agricultural, and engineering sectors, and to enhancing the administrative performance of state institutions. He affirmed that the outcomes of this work would be a significant resource for government institutions and the private sector alike, contributing to national progress and advancement.
During the meeting, Dr. Fuad Al-Mahtwari, Chairman of the Committee, presented a comprehensive overview of the workflow and steps completed so far, highlighting the development of a specialized content template, along with extensive field visits to faculties, centers, and administrative units across the university to collect, process, and analyze data in preparation for the final version of the guide.
Prof. Zaid Al-Warith, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, elaborated on the committee’s systematic approach in handling the data gathered from the various faculties, centers, and facilities of the university, ensuring the content is inclusive, accurate, and reflective of the university’s diverse community service engagements.
Dr. Omar Daer, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, commended the committee’s efforts, stressing the importance of this work in reinforcing the university’s image as an active institution dedicated to human and societal development.
In conclusion, the University Rector reaffirmed that the committee would receive full support from the university administration and would be provided with all necessary data and information to ensure the guide is produced in a manner befitting Sana’a University’s esteemed standing, while highlighting its pivotal role in serving the community—fully aligned with the vision of the Government of Change and Development.
