Sana’a University Launches 10th Scientific Conference and 9th Pharmaceutical Exhibition for Pharmaceutical Research

Under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hasan Al-Saadi, and the Rector of Sana’a University, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, and under the supervision of the Deanship of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the proceedings of the 10th Scientific Conference and the 9th Pharmaceutical Exhibition were launched today at Sana’a University. The event, held under the slogan “Pharmaceutical Scientific Research is the Foundation of the Pharmaceutical Industry,” is dedicated to discussing the graduation research of the 33rd batch from the Faculty of Pharmacy (the “Dose of Struggle” batch).
The conference will continue for three days, during which 11 scientific research papers in the fields of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Clinical Chemistry will be discussed. The papers were prepared by the batch’s students under the supervision of a selection of academics and researchers from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
In his opening speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Ahmed Al-Subati, congratulated the graduating students. He praised the conference’s timing, which coincides with the discussion of graduation research, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to enhancing the role of scientific research in supporting the national pharmaceutical industry sector. Dr. Al-Subati affirmed the faculty’s dedication to supporting students who wish to continue their postgraduate studies, aiming to conduct advanced scientific research that contributes to achieving local pharmaceutical security. He noted that the Faculty of Pharmacy is one of Yemen’s most established faculties in this field, possessing qualified academic staff capable of supervising and bringing about a qualitative leap in pharmaceutical education.
The Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Yahya Al-Dukhain, congratulated the graduating students on their efforts and scientific achievements, emphasizing the faculty’s commitment to developing scientific research through conferences and scientific activities. He reviewed the content of the research papers participating in the conference and their importance in developing pharmaceuticals and natural-product-based drugs in Yemen.
The conference was also attended by Dr. Abdulwasie Al-Qadasi, Vice Dean for Quality Affairs; Dr. Abdulmalik Abdullah Abu Donia, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics; Dr. Tawfiq Al-Obaidi, Head of the Department of Medicinal, Organic, and Analytical Chemistry; and Dr. Salwa Mohammed Raweh, Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy, along with other faculty members.
At the conference, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Buraihi, Head of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, stressed the importance of enhancing collaboration between the faculty and pharmaceutical companies and factories to build a high-quality Yemeni pharmaceutical industry capable of ensuring national drug security.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Buraihi called on pharmaceutical manufacturers to open their doors to students for practical training and research partnerships that enhance the quality of education and hands-on experience. He affirmed that the state is committed to achieving pharmaceutical security, starting from research support and ending with drug production, analysis, safety, and quality assurance based on scientific standards.
Graduate Abdulsalam Al-Rasmi and University Student Forum representative Qusay Al-Yaari also delivered speeches in which they expressed their gratitude for the knowledge and skills they received during their university studies, affirming that the conference represents a scientific platform to present research efforts and discuss them with academics and specialists.
Following the opening speeches, the conference sessions began with the discussion of the pharmaceutical research papers, in the presence of an assessment committee, numerous experts, and academics.
On the sidelines of the event, Dr. Ahmed Al-Subati also inaugurated the 9th Pharmaceutical Exhibition, which features a range of products and research outputs related to pharmacy and drug manufacturing.
