Sana’a – Tuesday, July 22, 2025 (27 Muharram 1447 Hijri)
As part of the ongoing preparations to launch the afforestation and agricultural soil rehabilitation project on campus, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, conducted a field visit to a team from the Faculty of Agriculture, Food & Environment. The visit occurred while the team was taking soil samples from the field designated for fruit cultivation, located adjacent to the university’s administration building.
The field team, working under the supervision of Prof. Najib Al-Maghribi and with the participation of Teaching Assistant Mr. Faisal Al-Yateem, collects and analyzes soil samples to assess their readiness for cultivation in preparation for implementing the project’s various stages.
During the visit, the University Rector listened to a detailed explanation of the ongoing work and the action plan. It was clarified that the project will include reforesting the university with fruit-bearing trees through three successive phases, covering multiple areas of the campus.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti emphasized the importance of involving the entire Faculty of Agriculture—including all its faculty members, assistants, and students—in the project’s implementation, considering it an important educational and training opportunity that enhances students’ skills and connects them with practical field agriculture. He also stressed the necessity of utilizing the academic and technical expertise available at the faculty to ensure the best results are achieved.
Furthermore, he pointed out that this project aligns with government directives aimed at enhancing food security and achieving self-sufficiency, affirming that the university seeks to transform its green spaces on campus into a model for agricultural and environmental sustainability.
