Sana’a – Tuesday, August 26, 2025 (Rabi’ al-Awwal 5, 1447 AH)
Under the auspices of Mr. Hasan Abdullah Al-Sa‘adi, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, the Office of the Vice Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research held a meeting today to mark the completion of the “SAR” electronic system for Postgraduate studies and to launch its application for students to electronically monitor academic and administrative procedures.
In his remarks, Minister Al-Sa‘adi affirmed that the launch of the unified SAR system for postgraduate studies represents a milestone that positions Sana’a University at the forefront of higher education, emphasizing that this success encourages the ministry to further strengthen its partnership with the university, which continues to lead in excellence.
He noted that the ministry remains a partner to Sana’a University and all educational institutions in every initiative that advances academic and administrative processes, particularly those that simplify procedures for students and clients. He further confirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting Sana’a University so it may continue pioneering such achievements.
Despite current challenges, Al-Sa‘adi stressed that development is steadily advancing with the aim of enhancing educational performance. Each day, he added, brings new accomplishments that reflect the dedication and hard work of committed professionals in the field. He commended the unified SAR system for its significant role in strengthening governance, transparency, performance efficiency, and procedural simplification.
For his part, University Rector Prof. Al-Bukhaiti described the adoption of SAR system for postgraduate studies as a significant achievement that eases the academic journey of postgraduate students—from admission and study requirements to research processes and graduation—without undue difficulties. He noted that this year’s postgraduate admissions were conducted entirely through SAR, adding that this step complements broader progress at the university in areas such as infrastructure, laboratories, digitalization, and campus outlook development.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti further highlighted that the SAR system, which had already been implemented for undergraduate programs, automating all processes up to the issuance of graduation certificates, has significantly improved institutional performance, reduced administrative and financial complexities, and enhanced governance, transparency, and efficiency. He praised the collective efforts of the Postgraduate Studies administration, the Ministry’s YCIT-HE team, and the university’s information system team in achieving this important digital transformation.
Presenting an overview of the system, Prof. Huda Al-Emad, Vice Rector’s Assistant for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, outlined its functions, objectives, and advantages in promoting governance, transparency, and quality across academic, administrative, and educational processes, including easy access and issuance of postgraduate certificates, and ensuring adherence to academic standards across all disciplines.
She stressed that SAR system facilitates student application and admission processes, tracks academic and financial records, manages lecture and exam schedules, monitors thesis and dissertation progress, and streamlines the issuance of reports and graduation documents.
Dr. Fuad Abdulrazzaq, Director of the YCIT-HE at the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, highlighted the center’s ongoing efforts and close cooperation with Sana’a University’s leadership and staff, which reflect the scale of national initiatives aimed at advancing academic and educational performance across universities.
He affirmed that these achievements come at a time when Yemen is witnessing important advances in administrative and digital technologies, underscoring a genuine commitment to maximizing the country’s human resources and available infrastructure in order to foster modern governance and administration, thus creating a model of education for adopting concepts of modern management and realizing digital transformation.
Engineer Rasha Al-Khulaidi delivered a technical presentation on the unified SAR system, illustrating the challenges faced prior to its implementation and the benefits it has introduced as a comprehensive digital transformation in university student affairs management.
The meeting was attended by the University’s Vice Rectors and assistants, faculty deans, center directors, several Vice Rectors of public universities, and members of the academic staff.
