PhD Degree Awarded to Ms. Shaima’a Abdullah Abdulmajeed in Education Foundations

Ms. Shaima’a Abdullah Abdulmajeed Salam was awarded a PhD degree in Education Foundations for her dissertation titled: A Proposed Model for the Transformation of Yemeni Universities into Smart Universities in Light of Certain Societal Variables, which was submitted to the Department of Education Foundations, Faculty of Education – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The dissertation aimed to propose a model for the transformation of Yemeni universities into smart universities in light of selected societal variables.
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
- The current level of availability of the requirements for the transformation of Yemeni universities into smart universities was assessed as low.
- The importance of these requirements was rated as very high.
- The results indicated that the societal variables influencing the transformation of Yemeni universities into smart universities were assessed as very high.
The researcher recommended adopting the proposed model for the transformation of Yemeni universities into smart universities in light of societal variables.
The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
