Sana’a University Council Approves a Set of New Academic and Developmental Resolutions

Sana’a – Sunday, August 31, 2025 (8 Rabiʿ al-Awwal 1447 AH)
The Sana’a University Council held its 3rd regular meeting for the 2025–2026 academic year today, chaired by University Rector Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, with the participation of vice rectors, rector’s assistants, and deans of faculties.
During the meeting, the University Rector reviewed key service and developmental achievements accomplished over the past month. These included the launch of SAR, a new postgraduate studies electronic system designed to save time and effort for students and staff, as well as the preparation of two additional halls at the Electronic Testing Center (ETC). The new halls will be equipped this month with 300 computers, raising the center’s total capacity to 1,800 devices. He also urged faculty deans to continue digitizing the remaining academic courses, highlighting the benefits this brings to both the university and its students.
The Council approved a series of significant academic and administrative resolutions, including:
1. Allocating four annual free seats for official administrative staff of the university in Master’s and PhD programs.
2. Approving academic promotions and the employment status adjustments for 23 faculty members.
3. Hiring 70 assistant faculty members across many faculties, including the Faculty of Sharia and Law, the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Petroleum and Natural Resources.
4. Allocating two postgraduate seats (Master’s or PhD) for public community colleges in fields not available to them, subject to competition.
5. Reducing postgraduate late fees from 50% to 25%.
6. Renewing departmental and faculty meeting minute reports for postgraduate students if more than six months have passed.
7. Reinforcing adherence to postgraduate regulations and prohibiting the launch of programs that do not meet the approved enrollment numbers.
The Council further approved:
• Approving PhD programs in Environmental Sciences and Earth Sciences at the Faculty of Petroleum and Natural Resources.
• Opening PhD programs in Economics and Banking & Finance, as well as Statistics, at the Faculty of Commerce and Economics.
• Adjusting the grading scales regarding the maximum grade for Level 1 and Level 2 courses (Anatomy I & II, Histology I & II, Physiology I & II, Biochemistry I & II, and Genetics) in line with international accreditation standards at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
• Approving the graduation results of 70 Master’s and PhD students, and 18 Diploma students across specialized faculties and centers.
• Approving the final lists of graduates forwarded by the Faculty of Education (Arhab), the Faculty of Computer Science, the Faculty of Petroleum and Natural Resources, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Education (Khawlan), the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Physical Education, and Commerce and Economics.
The Council also discussed a range of issues related to academic affairs, postgraduate studies, and student affairs, approving appropriate resolutions after reviewing and endorsing the minutes of its previous session.
