Sana’a University President Honors Champions of Volleyball and Table Tennis Cups

Sana’a – Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, together with Prof. Mohammed Ali Shukri, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, honored today the winners of the University Volleyball and Table Tennis Cups. The tournaments were organized by the General Administration of Student Activities, sponsored by the University Rector, and overseen by the Office of the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, coinciding with the University’s celebrations of the Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday, 1447 AH.
For the first time, the team of the Faculty of Engineering was crowned champion of the University Volleyball Cup, defeating the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the final match by two sets to one. The semifinals had been marked by intense competition, with the Faculty of Arts overcoming Physical Education (2–0), while the Faculty of Engineering triumphed over the Faculty of Commerce by the same score.
The team of the Faculty of Engineering thus claimed the championship cup and gold medals, while the Faculty of Arts and Humanities secured the silver medals.
In the Table Tennis Cup, Shihab Al-Qadasi from the Faculty of Engineering won first place, earning the championship cup and gold medal. His teammate Ayman Al-Arbaji placed second with the silver medal, while Farid Tawfiq Al-Ariqi, also from the Faculty of Engineering, came third and earned the bronze medal.
At the conclusion of the tournaments, the University Rector and Vice Rector for Student Affairs, joined by Mr. Adel Al-Hababi, the Rector’s Assistant for Media Affairs; Mr. Abdulqader Al-Ghorbani, General Director of Student Activities and Youth Welfare; and Mr. Sami Al-Ziyadi, Director of Sports and Scouts Activities, awarded the winning teams and players their cups and medals.
In his remarks during the ceremony, University Rector Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti congratulated the team of the Faculty of Engineering on winning both championships and extended his best wishes to all teams and students for future competitions. He emphasized that such tournaments and sport activities represent a vibrant enrichment to the University’s academic and student life, fostering competitive spirit, promoting well-rounded student personalities, and reinforcing values of cooperation and sense of belonging to the University and our Yemen.
