Sana’a University Discusses Regulations for Clinical Doctorate (MD) Program in Graduate Studies Council Workshop

Sana’a – September 6, 2025 (Rabi’ Al-Awwal 14, 1447 Hijri)
Under the patronage of Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, a workshop was held today at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences to discuss and enrich the regulations for the Clinical Doctorate (MD) program.
In his opening speech, the University Rector expressed his great appreciation for the efforts made by the faculty’s deanship and its academic and administrative staff in delivering a distinguished medical education. He commended the commitment of the academic and administrative staff in performing their duties to the fullest at the start of the 1447 Hijri / 2025-2026 academic year.
The workshop discussed the details of the regulations and the updating of its clauses to align with the interests of students and academic work, and to enhance the international accreditation of the Clinical Doctorate (MD) program in accordance with the European Credit System.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari, emphasized the importance of the program in qualifying doctors with high skills in scientific research and clinical practice. He noted that developing local medical cadres is a necessity to face the challenges within Yemen’s health sector.
The workshop included an explanatory presentation by Prof. Adel Al-Ghaili, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs & Graduate Studies, along with introductory remarks from heads of departments and program coordinators. Their messages focused on the program’s objectives and admission requirements, in addition to fruitful discussions with attendees about mechanisms for improving the quality of medical education in line with global standards.
This program is expected to contribute to enhancing the university’s rank at the local, regional, and international levels. It also seeks to prepare distinguished medical cadres capable of competing in the labor market.
In the same context, the entrance test for the clinical doctorate program was conducted for more than 250 applicants in various medical specialties. This comes as part of the university’s commitment to improving the quality of higher education and developing academic programs to meet the needs of the labor market.
The workshop was attended by the Dean of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, Prof. Huda Al-Emad; the Vice Dean for Hospital Affairs, Prof. Anwar Al-Mughalles; the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, Prof. Adel Al-Ghaili; as well as the heads of departments and academic program coordinators for more than 21 clinical doctorate programs.
