PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Abdulsalam Mansour in Information Technology

Mr. Abdulsalam Mansour Ahmed was awarded a PhD degree in Computing and Information Science with distinction for his dissertation titled: A Novel Model for Optimizing Energy Efficiency and Enhancing Connectivity in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs), which was submitted to the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Computer and Information Technology – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to propose an innovative model to improve energy efficiency and extend the operational lifetime of MANETs.

The study yielded several key findings, including:

48% improvement in network lifetime compared to AODV and 26% improvement compared to EEAODV.
Significant reduction in packet loss rate.
Lower end-to-end delay across the network.
More balanced energy consumption across nodes.

The researcher concluded his dissertation with several key recommendations, including:

Integrating intelligent energy management mechanisms into MANET routing protocols.
Developing hybrid models leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance route selection efficiency and proactively replace critical nodes before failure.
Conducting further applied studies to test the proposed model in real-world environments, such as relief networks, to ensure greater reliability and extended network lifetimes under practical conditions.

The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
