PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Tamer Al-Ahdal from Business Administration Center

Mr. Tamer Mustafa Ahmed Al-Ahdal was awarded a PhD degree in Business Administration for his dissertation titled “The Role of Knowledge Management in Achieving a Competitive Advantage Through Strategic Orientation in Yemeni Banks Operating in the Capital Secretariat, Sana’a,” which was submitted to Business Administration Center for Graduate Studies – Sana’a University. The PhD dissertation defense was held on Monday, September 1, 2025, corresponding to Rabi’ al-Awwal 9, 1447 Hijri.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following members:

The dissertation aimed to determine the role of knowledge management in achieving a competitive advantage through strategic orientation in Yemeni banks located in the capital secretariat (Sana’a). The study’s population included a number of Yemeni banks operating in the area.
The dissertation reached several key findings, most notably:
- There is a clear role for knowledge management in achieving a competitive advantage through strategic orientation in Yemeni banks.
- There is significant interest among Yemeni banks in adopting and implementing knowledge management and its various dimensions.
- Yemeni banks show a strong interest in achieving a competitive advantage in its various forms.
- The level of competitive advantage in Yemeni banks is high, but they need to focus on and develop specific strategies to ensure continued growth in a highly competitive environment.
Based on these findings, the dissertation concluded with several recommendations, including:
- Enhancing the role of knowledge management by utilizing modern methods and keeping pace with new developments.
- Prioritizing the storage of knowledge and providing appropriate and modern tools for this purpose.
- Promoting knowledge sharing in a way that encourages and motivates individuals toward creativity and innovation.
The PhD dissertation was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The PhD defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, interested students, the candidate’s colleagues, and family members.
