Faculty of Languages at Sana’a University Concludes 4th Translation Festival

The Faculty of Languages at Sana’a University concluded today the activities of the Fourth Translation Festival, held under the patronage of Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, and organized in cooperation with the University Student Forum (USF) under the theme: “The Role of Translation in Addressing Contemporary Challenges.” The closing ceremony witnessed wide participation from students, faculty members, and those interested in translation and language studies.
The event featured remarks delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Languages, Dr. Mohammed Al-Nasser, the Exhibition Technical Supervisor, Mr. Ali Salah; the Head of the Translation Department and General Supervisor of the Festival, Assoc. Prof. Mujeeb Qasim; faculty member Dr. Abdulwadood Annuzaili; the Rector’s Assistant for Media Affairs, Mr. Adel Al-Hababi; and the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Mohammed Shukri.
Speakers highlighted the importance of organizing such academic events, which contribute to developing students’ skills and strengthening the role of translation in contemporary issues. They praised the accompanying exhibition, which showcased student projects covering a wide range of translation fields—cultural, literary, religious, legal, artistic, technical, political, media, agricultural, and medical.
They also commended the continuous support provided by the university leadership to the faculty, enabling students to present their creative projects and link their linguistic skills to practical applications, thereby reinforcing the societal role of translation and its contribution to addressing community needs.
The two-day festival witnessed notable participation from students across various faculties. It included scientific competitions in English and research seminars discussing the role of translation and translators in addressing modern-day challenges.
The exhibition comprised eleven thematic booths featuring visual presentations, models, and multilingual informational panels prepared by students. The displays addressed the impacts of contemporary humanitarian crises, the challenges facing the peoples of the region, as well as works depicting popular resilience and national sacrifices. Other exhibits highlighted Yemen’s efforts in supporting just causes at the regional level.
At the conclusion of the event, the top three winners of the scientific competitions were honored, along with distinguished participants from among the faculty members and students.
